Wind and Waves: Beautiful Beaches

The past few days have been really windy. So we (my granddaughter is visiting me) decided to explore the popular beaches of Shoal Bay, Mead’s Bay, Rendezvous Bay, and Sandy Ground to see the action of the wind on the waves. First stop, Shoal Bay which is on the east end of the island on the Atlantic side.

Another beach we visited on the Atlantic side of Anguilla was Mead’s Bay which is on the west end of the island.

Crossing the island to the side facing the Anguilla Channel and St. Martin, we visited Rendezvous Bay.

The last beach we checked out on our Wind and Waves tour was back on the Atlantic side of Anguilla: Sandy Ground Harbour. The photos at Sandy Ground were taken on the same afternoon as those taken at Rendezvous Bay. The wind was blowing furiously at both beaches. But Sandy Ground is a Harbour and so is more protected than the other beaches. One way to know that the wind speed was high is that Sandy Ground Harbour was full of boats.

If it’s windy and you want to see great wave action, head to Shoal Bay, Mead’s Bay, or Rendezvous Bay. If you want to swim, Sandy Ground is the best choice. But whichever beach you go to in Anguilla (there are 33!), you will have beautiful views and will feel your cares waft away.
