The other day, I decided to check out the Happy Hour at Elvis’ Beach Bar in Sandy Ground. I pulled off the road onto the sand, parked, and then walked down the beach to the bar.

Although Happy Hour had just begun at 4 pm, there were already three couples seated at the bar where I joined them on the other side of the bar.

As soon as I sat down, Elvis came over and introduced himself to me. I instantly felt very welcomed and ready to enjoy happy hour at Elvis’.

In addition to the bar, Elvis has restaurant seating, along with plenty of seating on the beach under umbrellas and in hammocks.

The bar staff was super friendly and helpful.

As usual, I ordered a coke. I also ordered the Happy Hour Nachos Special. One of the men on the other side of the bar asked if someone was coming to share it with me. I said, no and looked to the bartender for a clue. She laughed a bit and said they would give me a box. So I was very intrigued.

While waiting for the nachos, I listened to the three couples seated across from me. They were speaking a Germanic language, but not German. After awhile, I deduced, based on how one of the women said No that they were speaking Dutch. This made a lot of sense as Sint Maarten, the Dutch side of the island across the Anguillan Channel, is only a short ferry ride away.

Then my nachos arrived!

Nacho plate

It was a nacho platter, not a nacho plate! Enough food for 3 people! So I definitely needed the take-away box. I had the pulled pork nachos with everything. Totally scrumptious!

While I was eating my nacho platter, I watched different sets of people playing some of the games Elvis provides. One of the couples tried their hand at ring toss, while two young men competed with each other at corn hole. There was also a giant jenga game, but no one played that while I was there. Behind the jenga game was an adorable orange VW Bug. Orange is my favorite color and also the color of sunsets.

By the time I’d stored 2/3 of the nachos in the take-away box, the sun was beginning to set.

When the light began to go, I decided it was time to head home. I strongly recommend Elvis’ Happy Hour with Sunset. I will definitely be coming back, but next time I will bring someone with me to share the nachos platter!
