Sunday night I went with my niece to a music venue in The Valley, the main town in Anguilla. During the day, Netty’s BBQ is a roadside diner.
But on Sunday nights, the disco ball swirls and lights play across the impromptu dance floor as musicians and DJs take center stage. We arrived around 8:30 pm to hear a combo already playing music with a bouncy Caribbean rhythm. The combo consisted of two men: one on keyboards, who sang, and the other on guitar. They played continuously for over an hour, smoothly transitioning from one song to the next. There was even a Caribbean version of Blue Christmas in the mix! They were quite impressive.
Around 9:30 pm, the DJs, one of whom, DJ Swatt, is my niece’s friend, began pumping up the volume with Caribbean Pop/Rock. The dance floor quickly filled with swaying bodies. After a few songs, we joined them on the dance floor. It was a fun, happy crowd enjoying the beautiful night and the lively music.
The trees are wrapped in the colors of the Anguillan dolphin flag: orange, blue, and white.
Netty’s caters to a local crowd, but all are welcome to enjoy the company of each other and the music. Sunday nights are fun nights!

Sounds like a great evening! I know you love to dance, so a perfect time for you!
Yes, it was a lot of fun. Too bad I don’t have the energy I had when I was younger!
